The day was cold and bright when Lydia, India, and I made our way to the location where we would spend the day. I'd seen it in pictures but the reality took my breath away; A fairy home tucked away in a city. Lydia found it through magic of her own keen spirit. She always seems to find the most beautiful spaces. Madeleine, the owner of the home, greeted us at the door with hugs and a bright energy. I knew immediately we were going to be great friends from our previous communication and from her warm energy that presented itself that morning.
Lydia and I had been planning this shoot for a very long time and with most of our shoots, the pieces came together in a frantic week leading up to the day. We had a very clear idea of the images we wanted to create. Since we collectively knew several trust designers that were on the same aesthetic level as us, we took it upon ourselves to style the story. The day was full but the pace was steady. India, our brilliant model, brought each look to life with her effortless grace and piercing eyes.
I used lights that I'd rented from a studio. I started with just one light and a softbox and found that it was enough. Sometimes, Lydia would hold a reflector on the side and sometimes I'd just rely on the natural light which bounced around the big white space. I envisioned her as a child playing dress up, a flower blooming playfully against the soft, neutral backdrop.
Thank you Coco Indie Magazine for not only featuring the story but giving us the cover. Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoy the story we crafted.
