Living in England the beauty of unfurling life in March is a striking thing. Warm breezes carrying with it sweet scents of new life. With each image I want to share my love of life, spring, and nature with you.
As I was on a walk with P a few days ago, we passed a patch of wild flowers that I'd created in last year. How a year has past since then is beyond me! So much has happened, so much to catch up on... so, here's me making a small start.
Once upon a time, or last year, on a warm spring evening Jodi, Pratik and I had rocked up, set up and quickly shot an image that I'd been dreaming of creating in a little patch of land for nearly 2 years. I would run pass this patch and every year when the bluebells would spring up I'd daydream of the kind of image I'd capture in that scene.
I knew wanted to create something that captured my love of nature and it's overgrowing, overflowing wildness. I decided to reach out to Jo Fleming who designs beautiful floral dresses and when this one arrived suddenly all the pieces fell into place!
Jodi modelled for and did her own makeup. I used a wig to transform her into a character from another land. Pratik and Tina assisted me that evening as well as making sure I didn't fall off the ladder!
To emphasise the nature within the scene and to take the image to another level, I used 2 Lume Cubes with coloured plastic taped onto it to create a gel lit effect. I was quite impressed with how effective they were, especially for something so small and portable. I will certainly be bringing them with me to more photoshoots!
Art can be created anywhere, all you need is a little inspiration, the motivation, and a dash of some magic. Beauty exists all around us and once our eyes are open to it we can't unsee it. It can exist in a tailored garden or in a patch of wild flowers by the road side...
